What do we offer?

CKM Classes                      Seminars                       Women's Self Defense

To put it simply, WNC Center for Self Defense offers reality based self defense training. While traditional martial arts will always hold their place in the defense world, many people today have begun to realize that traditional martial arts and reality based defense are not one and the same.

We take into account the effect of stress on the body in a violent confrontation, and in response to that stress, we teach techniques based on simple, natural body movements and reflexes. We train in realistic situations: in the dark, in the rain, in the cold. We train with distractions such as loud music, traffic noise, and outnumbered by attackers. Where traditional martial arts concentrate on sparring, we concentrate on pressure testing. This means that our students undergo continuous attacks in situations that put them under constant disadvantage.

At WNC Center for Self Defense, you will become more fit and you will gain self discipline. However, the system that we teach has no place in tournaments or other competitions. Unlike most traditional martial arts today, we will teach you to quickly control or debilitate your attacker. There is no sustained ground fighting, though we will teach you to survive on the ground, because the ground is a dangerous place to be in a real fight. There are no complex moves. All of our techniques are designed to work within two gross motor (think push & pull) movements or less. Here, you will find no katas, no bowing, no ritual. You will find a handshake, constant encouragement, and the ability to protect yourself and your loved ones in situations that most people want to believe would never happen to them.

WNC Center for Self Defense offers a variety of class structures to meet your training needs. Click on the at the top of the page to learn more about each of our programs. Keep in mind that in the near future, we will be expanding our class offerings.

If you are interested in self defense training for your group, but find that the classes we currently offer do not meet your needs, please contact us about developing a custom seminar for you. We can also offer training at your site if that is more convenient. Just contact us and let us know what your needs are.

We are, after all, here for the purpose of serving our community and region! We're in the business of helping you stay safe.
